According to a Harris Poll, they're accessing the web from places other than home or work, too.
Nearly 74% of adults are online now, up a bit from 73% last year. And now 21% say they use the Internet from places other than home or work; those places could be public libraries, or hotels or airports with wireless access for travelers.
And broadband usage has increased as well. 54% of adults use a broadband connection for surfing the Internet. Modem usage fell to 18% from 22% last year.
Adults now average 9 hours a week online, up from 8 last year. The implications for that if they are browsing during times they would normally watch television or read a newspaper will grow into significant impact on what those mediums can charge for advertising rates.
